Time for Empathy 2024:

Magda Barańska

Magda Barańska

Poland

I feel a deep calling to contribute to making decisions that work for everyone, because I see how much more alive and effective groups become when everyone’s needs matter. I believe humans intrinsically enjoy finding solutions that care for everyone’s needs and what gets in the way are unsupportive beliefs and lack of skills. I’m passionate about inspiring and supporting transformation of such beliefs and teaching the skills that make interdependent collaboration possible. I enjoy offering softness and acceptance to free up the energy that gets stuck in self-judgments and self-doubts. When facilitating I bring faith that integration is possible and trust in the wisdom and creativity of a group. It gives me great joy to contribute to co-creation through deep listening to everything that is shared and through the integration of dissent and concerns. I aim for each encounter and decision in my life to become an example of the change I want to see in the world. My ongoing sources of learning include collaborating in diverse projects, parenting and inner transformation.

I got to know NVC in 2008 and since then I am on the path of practising, sharing, creating and co-creating. After building an online community (it is more a Gang actually) for 6 years, working in the field of conflict facilitation and as a coach, I was working for the Civil Peace Service in Nepal.

NVC for me is peacework, knowledge and wisdom combined, a language of all senses, consciousness-training. It is a tool for me to stay on my path, be open to the challenges of life and be present in every encounter I experience. I am the mother of two boys. Being part of the Empathic Way Europe fulfils many needs like co-creation, contribution, adventure, community, peace.

Maja Wyborska

Maja Wyborska

Poland

Business trainer and facilitator, coach, certified Resonant Healing Practitioner, communication trainer in the CNVC process. The meaning of my work is to co-create a world that works for everyone (with the main focus on transforming organizations from a culture of blame towards thriving together). I support building the long-term value of organizations by facilitating the culture change towards an environment that is psychologically safe and cares about the needs of individuals, teams and organizations. I facilitate the processes that lead to the well-being of employees and thriving of the company at the same time. I have over 14 years of experience working in business (Ernst&Young, private equity funds). At the same time, I am a mother of three wonderful children who are my life teachers and a partner to my beloved husband. The processes, workshops, lectures, coaching sessions and Resonant Healing sessions that I run are rooted in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and neuroscience, covering well-being and trusting relationships both at work and in life. I am a co-author of the “I See a Human” project and the “Student as a mediator” program. I co-create the annual Empathy Marathon in Poland. With over 1,000 hours of experience and development in empathetic communication, I help organizations to make empathy their main advantage and a resource for employees, teams and businesses. I do that by planning and running communication transformation processes for the teams that are ready for the change. I also work with executives working with them 1:1. The topics I most enjoy are: safety, well-being, diversity and inclusion, stress, burnout, trust and cooperation in a workspace, organizational culture based on empathy instead of blame, „from manager to effective&empathic leader”. I believe that the world can be more and more friendly to each of us through a focus on human relationships, both at home and in business.

Ondine Delavelle

French living in Vienna, I discovered NVC about 10 years ago which made place for more gratitude in my life, as well as the awareness of more choices: whether I interpret bad intentions in others’ actions, or I seek to understand them and find a common path. It has also impacted my way of being a mother – even if the current teenager phase is quite a roller-coaster! I attended several introduction and deepening trainings, a mentoring program as preparation for trainers and an international intensive training in Birmingham, took part in two Erasmus Plus projects and also have been trained as Needs-based coach. I am currently enrolled in the year’s training “Lead the change” by the Pioneers of change.

As a certified trainer, Dana shares NVC in different languages and countries and is grateful to be part of this community as well.

Irmtraud Kauschat

I grew up in post-war Germany with guilt and shame about our history. NVC supported me to differentiate between guilt/shame and responsibility. It is out of this responsibility and being inspired by Marshall’s work that I chose to share NVC in regions of conflict like Israel/Palestine, Kenya, Ukraine and Somalia to support reconciliation and social change. It is important to me to contribute to a world where everybody’s needs matter, to get to know about the privileges I have and to be curious how I can use them in a collaborative way with people who have less access to resources.

I am a freelance trainer and consultant accompanying people, groups and organizations to find better results. My special skill is helping people and groups to identify the obstacles that prevent them from giving their best and transforming them into resources. Learning and teaching are important for me. Since leaving University as an economist I have continued to train, perfect and broaden my experiences to get the best results in groups. Nonviolent Communication, Systemic Constellations and Embodiment Practice based on U-theory are my main approaches. I started my  NVC learning in 1999 with Marshall Rosenberg and have learned from and practised with many great trainers since. (Laurence Reichler, Eva Rambala, Dominic Barter, Miki Kashtan and others).  In 2003 I moved to Argentina, where I attended the first IIT there and participated in practice groups in Buenos Aires for many years. In 2020 I moved back to Germany. I have shared nonviolent communication in introductory workshops in different settings (general participants, schools, organizations), but mainly I use the concept in my daily life and work. For me, NVC is a powerful tool that helps me get through difficult situations workwise and in my personal life. But mostly it leaves me with an open heart and mind. I work online and offline in English, Spanish and my native language German.

My joy in discovering NVC in 2017 is the reason I love to share and connect with people so much! I find joy and delight in accompanying others in their self-discoveries, desires, and relationships. I find meaning in “not journeying alone” and the understanding that we are not, and were never meant to go alone through life. My way of engaging and navigating with others is through this relational space. Creating a trusting relational space that is held for you, to be seen and known in what you are experiencing. As a certified NVC trainer and Resonant Healing Practitioner, I enjoy sharing through humour, humility and authenticity what I love to do, connect! I am a feminist, artist, and human being – offering a space of welcome to your humanity.

Since I was a teenager I was interested in listening to people. This prompted me to study psychology and once I graduated, I focused my energies on training more and more, teaching at the University and providing therapeutic spaces in public institutions.

Around 2016, and from a health situation, I found Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Almost immediately I came across Mindful Compassionate Dialogue, LaShelle Lowe Charde’s work, for which I felt much admiration and gratitude.

Currently I devote much of my time and energy to share what I have to offer in different ways: facilitating workshops or trainings, providing spaces for personal support, leading role plays for deep listening to pain or conflict situations and offering spaces for dialogue facilitation. I also provide support to an educational institution that wants to build a culture towards Conscious and Compassionate Communication.

I also facilitate systemic transformation through Nonviolent Communication, neurobiology, and 3d-mapping inspired by and following the teachings of Sarah Peyton being in a constant awe how much healing her work brings. The first time I heard the words of Marshall Rosenberg “Connect before correct” I imagined how the world would look like if we could remember them more often. What I do is rooted in that dream. I have finished postgraduate studies in Leadership in Education, Nonviolent Communication according to Marshall Rosenberg and Train the Trainer of Nonviolent Communication studies, at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, Poland. I have also finished Business and Life Coaching at the School of Empathic Trainers in Warsaw. I am a mother of a teenage boy who is my source of love and wisdom.

I am from Venezuela and I am living in France right now. I have more than 50 days of training in NVC and I am a certification candidate for the Center for Nonviolent Communication. After experiencing a lot of loneliness as a teenager and during my 20s I realized that one of the causes of that loneliness was that I could not express my feelings and neither my thoughts (I would never speak up during difficult situations). I like to say that NVC taught me how to speak and empower me to take care of my needs. Together with NVC I also study IFS (Internal Family systems), both methods have changed my life and now I want to share with others these life-changing tools. I discovered NVC at the Musica do Círculo retreat in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2018, where they fuse NVC, body percussion, vocal improvisation and dance to create community and joy. I have found NVC more helpful and transformative than psychotherapy, and so I have immersed myself in trainings with many teachers in the UK and Europe, including Seed of Peace (Shantigarbha and Gesine), Kirsten Kristenson, Friareliv (Liv Larson and Kay Rung).

I found Robert Gonzales’s work on the embodied beauty of needs so psychologically transformative, that I attend the global dyads most days (and often host them), and helped create and facilitate a weekly ‘Transforming the pain of unmet needs into the Beauty of Needs’ group.

I would like to integrate NVC, Sarah Peyton’s Resonant Healing, and Internal Family Systems, into empathic emotional healing.

I had no idea that I did not love myself until someone pointed it out to me. I then began to see the patterns of self-criticism, self-loathing and shame that I was carrying. I was somehow unable to shift these patterns which led to even more self-loathing and depression. Learning Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and becoming a certified trainer certainly contributed to making a shift in my ability to be kind to myself and yet I was still missing one vital piece. As an Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner, I have come to understand what it really means to love myself. I am honoured to be able to support clients and participants to learn to love themselves using IFS, NVC, breathwork and psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Armi Dumadag

An NVC door opened up in front of me 7 years ago. As I stepped in that open door I remembered thinking: “but I am never violent”. Only to realize that I am most violent towards myself. On my first session, I heard myself expressing to my group “I am hungry in my head, my heart and my gut”. Since then I have landed in self-tenderness, self-kindness and self-compassion. I am so grateful to have found NVC as my nourishment for this hunger.

Now I am journeying to become CNVC certified facilitator. In this space, I can play and explore one by one my learning edges. One of them (one of the many) is receiving and giving feedback.

Ingrid Gabršček

Slovenia

My name is Ingrid. I live in Slovenia. Nonviolent communication “came” into my life in 2011 while I was attending a programme for therapists (transpersonal cognitive therapy). What started as an interesting method to communicate at first, became a path of Self-discovery through years. The mindset shift from Life happening to me to Life expressing through me, brought wonder and magic back into my life. Spreading it across the world became my dream, so I started the journey to become a certified trainer. My passions in NVC are conflict resolution and spirituality – the deep connection (with ourselves and others). As a communication trainer, consultant and mediator, I am fascinated by the magic that arises from it.

I am a licentiate in English language and Applied Linguistics, and I have shared the principles of NVC in the different communities I have been involved since I encountered it back in 1996. That year, I started to develop an interest in intentional communities and ecology and toured the world visiting, studying and working in communities. At the Findhorn Community, in Scotland, I started to participate in NVC practice groups and met Dominic Barter who invited me to co-organize a week-long event with Marshall Rosenberg in Latin America. At this event, in Porto Alegre Brazil, I acted as an interpreter for Marshall and Dominic for the Spanish speaking audience.

Meeting MarshalI and NVC was a turning point in my life and I continued learning from some internationally known trainers like Robert Gonzales, Selene Aitken, Arnina Kashtan, Miki Kashtan, Alan Said and Lashelle Lowe Chardé. I have also studied Empathic Coaching with Francois Beausoleil and have participated in a few NVC IITs (Intensive International Trainings) in Latin America.

My interest in languages, travelling and learning processes have helped me share NVC in three languages, in different countries and in a variety of ways.

Ever since I can remember I have devoted myself to this search for living life from love and wisdom. As a young adult this led to a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a graduate degree in school psychology. In 2001 I found Compassionate/Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and began training with Marshall Rosenberg and other internationally known NVC trainers. In 2006, I was certified as an NVC trainer. In 2002 I spent a year living in Great Vow Zen Monastery. Here I was able to do much healing work and deeply integrate NVC into my internal dialogue. I founded the English portion of Wise Heart in 2007. At about the same time I entered into three years of training in various mindful experiential approaches to therapy such as: Hakomi (body centered therapy), attachment theory, trauma treatment modalities, Recreation of the Self, Matrix group process, and character theory. Shortly thereafter, I completed introductory training modules in Emotionally Focused Therapy and with the Gottman Institute. In 2015, I created a comprehensive system of transformation and thriving relationships called Mindful Compassionate Dialogue. In 2020, Wise Heart became established in Spanish.

NVC has been immensely helpful in my process of finding peace with myself and entering into close relationships. I experienced deeply unmet needs in my childhood, and in the first part of my adult life, I lived with depression, loneliness, over-eating, and lack of trust in myself and life. I’m deeply inspired by Robert Gonzales’ and Miki Kashtan’s ways of approaching mourning. NVC has been an essential part of my life for the last 20 years. I’m going for my final assessment, and from August this year, I’ll dedicate a whole year to work with NVC only. I almost can’t wait to get started!”

I got to know NVC in 2008 and since then I am on the path of constantly practicing, sharing, creating and co-creating. I work mainly in the “online-world”, offering online-communication-trainings on topics like parenthood, shame/guilt/vulnerability, small inspired steps… I also offer one-on-one compassion sessions, monthly group sessions called LAB. I create a lot of free content as “mini-inspirations” for reminding that you have all the qualities inside you need to create a life and relationships you truly want and that we are all imperfectly perfect. One of my biggest passions and learning field is facilitating conflicts with Restorative Circles and mediation a la nvc. I like to be supportive in seeing conflicts as part of being alive and as a chance to explore something beautiful and important, not as something we have to reject and be fearful of. NVC for me is peacework, knowledge and wisdom combined, a language of all senses, consciousness-training. It is a tool for me to stay on my path, be open for the challenges of life and be present in every encounter I experience. I am mother of two boys (5 and 9). Spreading it across the world, became my dream, so I started the journey to become a certified trainer. During my certification journey my first focus is conflict resolution and mediation (I am a mediator). My second focus is the discovery of our inner world with empathy and tenderness. For the last ten years, after leaving the “managing and leading” corporate world, I am passionately supporting groups that are interested in enhancing collaboration and releasing their creativity and individuals who are interested in transforming their limitations to “show up” fully in this world.

I am a freelance trainer and consultant accompanying people, groups and organizations to find better results, specializing in strategic questions and communication processes in organizations and businesses, working with different moderation techniques. Learning and teaching are important for me. Since leaving University as Economist (University of Hamburg), I have continued to train, perfect and broaden my experiences to get the best results in groups. I am an active participant in peer groups on Nonviolent Communication and Systemic Constellations and am sustaining transformative change projects based on U-theory (www.presencing.org). I work in English, Spanish and my native language German. I started my NVC learning in 1999 by different trainers, including the founder Marshall Rosenberg (who was the first to say: “This is how NVC works… but sometimes you choose not to use it”). So it is a powerful option that has helped me getting through difficult situations workwise and in my personal life. But mostly it leaves me with a very open heart and mind to approach challenges.

Translator and interpreter, a philosopher by education and passion.  NVC appeared in my life 6 years ago, when I became a mother. I fell in love with its simplicity and universality. It opened for me a whole new world, it gave me new tools to understand the Other and stay with them in contact full of authenticity. I have attended a two-year course – where I took part in a number of workshops with certified NVC trainers – and I became a trainer of empathic communication, hoping for starting the certification path in the near future. Two years ago I got my diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome.

Turkey/UK

I was born and grew up in İstanbul, Turkey. After completing my higher studies in Art History and Museum Studies subsequently, I worked in museums and taught at a university for 12 years. Meeting with Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in 2013 was a tremendous turning point in my personal life. It helped me not only in restoring my broken relationship with myself in a sustainable, deep way but also offered me the perspective and practices I need for building up fulfilling, compassionate, honest and choiceful relationships with others and life. While continuing my practices in Arts&Heritage field, I also deepened my NVC knowledge and consciousness by joining various NVC trainings, practices and communities. In 2016, I started offering one-to-one coaching sessions, workshops for individuals and groups, and organizing international workshops for other trainers. Relocating to London in 2019, I continue my practices here in London, in Istanbul and also on various online platforms. I am particularly passionate about the transformative potentials and practices of NVC in social change, community building and conflict resolution.

Sylvie Hörning

Sylvie Hörning

Switzerland

Hello, my name is Sylvie Hörning. After having grown up in Latin America and Switzerland I studied law in Zurich. Thereafter we moved to the US, Brazil and back to Switzerland. Learning new languages and communicating with people has always fascinated me. When I first met Marshall Rosenberg in 2006 I was equally fascinated by his approach to communication from heart to heart, where empathy for the other AND for myself is a key element. I had heard of offering empathy to others, but the concept of offering it to myself was NEW and EXCITING. Since then I have become a certified trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication and offer workshops, seminars for groups and individuals. The fields I mostly work in are education, family matters and parenting. And as I evolve in life, it is clear to me that at the core of any communication are individuals who want to be heard and express themselves with honesty. I started practicing NVC at home with my husband and three children. It wasn’t always easy and it never worked when I had the subtlest hidden agenda to make them do what I wanted! When I made the conscious decision to talk about my needs and hear what their needs were something shifted. We could connect at the heart level. As I am so inspired by that way of having human interactions I enjoy passing it on and accompanying people on their own path of discovery.

Being part of the Empathic Way Europe Project fulfills many needs like co-creation, contribution, adventure, community, peace. I am on the path to CNVC certification. I was also participating in few workshops and projects, and I’m still learning :). What fascinates me is the trasformational power of Nonviolent Communication. Change is possible when we are opening our hearts, when we are ready to truly see and hear other human beings, when we are ready to give our empathic presence – both for other people and for ourselves. I support people, through individual trainings and group workshops, in the process of creating authentic relationships . One in France relation NVC healing process for therapeutic purpose, two years in Germany with Robert Gonzales, a genuine and deeply experienced US trainer. For me, in my life practice I went at a point where I was stuck between my ideal from one side and the way I embodied them at that time in my spiritual longing. CNVC trainer, life-coach. I am fascinated by personal growth and supporting others in striving for a fulfilled life based on important needs and goals. I believe that every change begins inside. I got to know Nonviolent Communication in 2008 and since then I have been trying to put into practice the theory I have learned. Watching myself, my family and the participants of my workshops, I see these tiny steps that change our way of thinking, focus on seeing the needs behind each action, make a difference. Above all, they allow us to regain a sense of freedom of choice, they help us to build honest relationships based on mutual trust and respect. I see how presence without judgment can be a great gift to another person. My favourite topic is work related to shame and courage. I work with individuals and teams combining creative thinking, empathic communication, coaching and mediation. My mission is to free people from patterns and stereotypes in order to build relationships based on authenticity and trust. I live with my family in Warsaw. I run workshops all over Poland, I also work online.

I love my job. And I love people. In my work I bring my heart and brain together. And I activate the same in my clients. I accompany my client in this process and I am grateful for the intensive moments of clarification, understanding and development.
I have developed my „brain” in school, during music and psychology studies (with a focus on work and organizational psychology), while working as a manager in a medium-sized company, during my various training courses to become a communication trainer, coach, wingwave coach, stress management consultant, trauma therapist, among others.
My „heart” grew above all in the security of my family, through my 3 children, my friends and through the encounter already 15 year ago with NVC process created by Marshall B. Rosenberg. At that moment I started to become aware of my inner attitude. Since then I have been working actively and regularly on my own growth and ways to pass this knowledge through my seminars and coaching sessions and all that with full of joy.
My professional education is: certified psychologist (1987), NVC trainer, mediator and moderator (2006), NVC coach (2010), wingwave coach (2011), moderator for Systemic Consensing (2013), trauma therapist (2018).
My working experience is: manager in a medium-sized company until 2002 and since 2004 as freelancer (consultant, trainer, coach, therapist), with own psychological praxis in Ulm, Germany since 2012. My main focus is NVC and Systemic Consensing. More about me: https://www.schmidt-consult.org

I come from France and I live in Vienna since more than 10 years. I discovered NVC about 5 years ago which made place for more gratitude in my life, and for an awareness of our choices: whether we interpret bad intentions in others’ actions, or we seek to understand them, and find a common path. It has also impacted my way of being a mother. I attended several introduction and deepening trainings, a mentoring program and an international intensive training in Birmingham, I am participating to a practice peer group, and I host a practice group since one year. I aim to embody NVC in my daily life, which is everything but easy, however gaining awareness and deeper connections is worth the journey.

Then I dive into practical training in the year 2014, and have done many intensive NVC schools. Then NVC have given me practical tools to really support the incarnation of my deepest values in this world. To me it mean hope, action, passion and compassion at the same time.”

NVC to me is warmth, it means connecting with my inner truth and with others. To me it means courage and movement and by all means it is not that easy sometimes linked with old patterns and habits. But what struck me most from the beginning is a feeling of returning to my natural instruction as a human being. As an attitude within collaborative work I am amazed what kind of relationships can grow by this accepting and reflected way of communication and how it affects the spirit and the outcome of the collaboration.

Sylvie Hörning

Sylvie Hörning

Switzerland

Hello my name is Sylvie Hörning. After having grown up in South America and Switzerland I studied law in Zurich.
I am so inspired by that way of having human interactions that I enjoy passing it on and accompanying people on their own path of discovery.

I’m passionate about the transformational power of nonviolence and communication. The magic happens when we allow ourselves to be seen and have the capacity to be in empathic presence with other people and especially within ourselves. It is an enriching and empowering  experience to feel the human connection. The guiding question for the practice could be: „When there is no violence in our heart, what kind of connection is possible?“

I work part-time as technical expert in an agile team in telecommunications sector. My second profession is to share NVC with groups and individuals. I’m a certified trainer for adult education and life consultant in training. The best teachers in my life have been my two meanwhile adult children.
